Immunisations: Local views

Supporting Information

Though some work has been done in the past, particularly on parental attitudes to MMR, there has been little effort in recent years to understand the views of parents locally, nor to identify barriers to immunisation. One of the main recommendations of a visit by the National Support Team for Immunisation was that a survey should be performed to get a better understanding of such barriers. Such a survey is planned, but in the meantime, available evidence would suggest that parental resistance, especially to MMR, has been a problem, but probably does not account for most of the gap between our performance and the relevant targets.
