Long Term Care and Support: What is coming on the horizon?

  • Closer scrutiny of domicillary care, residential and nursing standards locally in the light Care Quality Commission and the Health Service Ombudsman reports showing failure to provide elderly and vulnerable patients with dignified and compassionate care, or to offer good basic standards in areas such as nutrition, continence and communication.
  • Renewed focus on achieving delivery of high quality public services that wiill include effciency savings across health and social care in the light of major organisational struructural changes e.g NHS re-organisations, Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG), transfer of public health functions to local councils etc
  • Moves from process/output based performance management framework to an outcome based framework across adult social care, NHS and public health
