Tobacco Control (Overview): Targets and performance

  • Lewisham’s target for 2011/12 is to achieve 1728 4 week quits15
  • Reduce adult smoking prevalence in England to 18.5% by the end of 201516
  • Reduce rates of regular smoking among 15 year olds in England to 12% by the end of 201517
  • Reduce rates of smoking throughout pregnancy to 11% by the end of 2015 (measured at time of giving birth)18
  • Lewisham performs significantly worse on 6 of 11 smoking indicators, such as smoking attributable deaths, lung cancer registrations, lung cancer deaths, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease deaths19
